How In 4 Steps You Can Overcome Your Ignorance Of Economics To Prepare For The Group Discussion

By Priyanka T Arvind like many engineers had received Group Discussion and Personal Interview calls for IIM- Ahemdabad, IIM- Bangalore, IIM- Calcutta, XLRI, and many other MBA institutions. He knew he had to start reading the economic dailies to prepare for the Group Discussion. Given his lack of knowledge of the economy he used 4 steps to improve his chances of success. 1) Information: Arvind would pick up one major financial daily and scan through the headlines and editorials. He would pick 5 topics a day and choose 3 major keywords from each topic. Suppose the topic chosen was Indias Nuclear Policy from there he would choose 3 words (i) Power (ii) Environment (iii) National Security 2) Organized messages: Based on each of these 3 keywords he would then write down what he intended to say as a viewpoint in 2 simple phrases. He would then refine each message so that they became coherent and well connected statements 3) Non verbal skills: Arvind realized that for such a topic there would not be enough time to state all his viewpoints. He practiced in front of a mirror and experimented with his hands to create visual images of his keywords phrases for the GD panel to understand better. For example to state the difference in power production between India and China instead of merely stating the data - he would substantiate the data by creating visual images of bars one smaller than the other to describe the difference in power production. 4) Benefit: Arvind ensured that all his viewpoints ended with a final solution. He would always finish by stating the economic benefit of such a decision to be taken and why he thought it would create benefit for the nation and economy Using the above 4 steps, Arvind managed to create a list of topics for which he could speak using pure economic terminology. With good two weeks practice Arvind managed to thoroughly impress the Group Discussion panel and snag the seat from his choice of B- Schools. Holiday Depression

By Michele Graham During the holiday season, it seems that even with all of the lights and gifts and fanilies reuniting, depression rears it’s ugly head at this time Some people are depressed because they have less financial resources than others. Others are depressed because of relationships that have been distanced by misunderstandings. Lack of time to get all challenges faced in a timely manner is another cause of depression. Clinical depression is a disease and can be treated with medications from your physicians. Holiday depression, on the other hand should be addressed in a different manner. If you are depressed because you don’t have money for gifts, be creative. You can make hand - written gift certificates for house cleaning, trips to the store, cooking a meal for a couple of months, or even baby sitting. These cost you no more than your time and will be appreciated as well. If you bake, there is not anyone who would not love a confection from your kitchen. If you are depressed because you are alone, or maybe your family is far away, then busy yourself helping others with volunteer work at the Salvation Army or another organization that is set up to help others. Or make yourself available to the children’s ward at your local hospital to read to the children there. Or you could go to any of the nursinghomes in your area and just visit the one’s who have no one to visit them. Doing for others takes the focus of our own problems or issues away. Look around. Instead of allowing yourself to be depressed, think of what you can do to help another have a happy holiday. It is the best medicine ever! How to Avoid a Little-Known “Hidden Cost” in Your Business That Can Be Costing You a Small Fortune

By Garrett Todd Many businesses put their callers on hold while transferring them, retrieving information, or when waiting for someone else to assist them. But not all businesses have a custom on hold message for the callers to listen to while they wait…but they should. Here’s why: ~ 88% of callers surveyed report that they like to hear music AND messages while they wait. ~ 60% of callers left on hold in silence hang up ~ 30% of these callers never call back ~ Radio or Music CDs are not legal to use for on hold (reported: BBB, Oct. 2002) So why not use this great opportunity (putting callers on hold) to further educate this “captive audience” while they wait? This article will help you find out what on hold messaging is, and how it can be used to reduce hang-ups and increase sales in your business. What is Custom On Hold Messaging? Custom On Hold Messaging is a complete audio production of a script, music, and studio voicing orchestrated together to help impress callers and reduce hang ups. The production is played back instantly when the HOLD button is pressed on your phone system. It’s called a production because it has a start and a finish (like a movie production), with custom messaging and music. You choose what music that will be set to the background, you choose if a man or woman records your message, and you choose the precise message that they record. On hold messaging is used as entertainment to educate the on hold caller and keep them pacified while they wait. Most businesses like to talk about their products and services, where they are located and hours of operation, their slogan, their website address, and other relevant data. Users report that it makes their business look larger and more professional, hang ups are reduced, and that sales go up do to more educated callers. All these benefit the organization. How is the On Hold Production Played? The production is played from a player of some sort that is connected directly to the phone system and is activated automatically when the HOLD button on your phone system is pressed. The player can be a boom box that has a CD player, an El Cheapo CD player from an electronics store, or a professional on hold player which can be CD load or USB load which uses small but high quality mp3 files. You will need to address a few technical issues with your player and the phone system. Specifically, does your phone system have a music on hold jack on it? (This is just a little hole on the phone system where the player plugs into.) If you have a radio or music CD playing currently, then this is usually a good sign that you are all set to go. If you have silence on hold, then you may have to locate the music on hold jack on the phone system. ( HINT : A good on hold company will walk you thru this step-by-step. They may even offer to call your phone installer to reduce work on your part.) In summary, to use custom on hold messaging in your business you only need three components: 1) The Custom On Hold Production 2) The Player 3) The Music On Hold Jack How Much Does it Cost? This is a very important topic because there are TWO ways in which you need to look at the cost structure of businesses that provide Custom on Hold Messaging. The first is a “contract” model: This where the company signs you up for a term contract in which you are locked in for a certain amount of time. Most are 2, 3, even 5 year contracts. Further, you are obligated to pay a monthly fee for the term of the contract. Month after month, even if you do not use the service, you still pay. This can be compared to cell phone companies that “lock” you into their contracts for several years at a time. It guarantees them long term cash flow, but it doesn’t provide much benefit to the end user. The second is a buy out model. This simply means you only pay once, there are no monthly fees, no contracts, and no hidden charges. Most small and medium sized businesses choose this option because of its “no strings attached” approach. The buy out model can be compared to going to the store and buying a can of soup from a shelf and then going home and simply eating it. When you need more, you go buy more, but do not pay again until you update. Why more businesses choose the buyout model? 1) The cost of on hold is a very small investment and does not require long term contracts or monthly charges. 2) The author of this article has worked with hundreds of on hold customers all over the country and their feedback is that they do not prefer the contract model. Why? My guess is because we all agree there is no reason to be in a binding contract for something that doesn’t cost very much. As far as price goes, you might be happy to learn that you can get a fully custom on hold production for under $400, with nothing more to buy. In summary, custom on hold messaging is a great way to: ~ Increase caller retention ~ Reduce hang-ups ~ Impress callers ~ Educate your callers If you’d like to learn more… Check out the new and fr.ee 16-minute audio report that covers, in more detail, everything you need to know to make the best decision for your organization when getting custom on hold messaging. Online Resources for Coping With the Discovery of Infidelity

By Tad Stevens Few events are more painful than dealing with the discovery of a cheating spouse. At the end of the day, the emotional bond we share with another individual is the most important thing we have. And unfortunately, infidelity can destroy all of the benefits of being close to someone else. Infidelity destroys trust, love, comfort and security. The shock of catching a cheating spouse can be devastating. Everything which was once safe and familiar is suddenly fraught with uncertainty. Infidelity is such a painful experience because the person who is supposed to provide unconditional, emotional support turns out to be the person who has hurt you the most. Moreover, there is often stigma attached to being the victim of infidelity. People who have been cheated on typically feel shame, even though they have done nothing wrong. When infidelity strikes, it can be difficult to know where to turn for help. And while there is a lot of useful information on the web designed to help people deal with the problem of infidelity, this information can be difficult to find, especially in a time of crisis. There are literally millions of websites dealing with the subject of cheating and infidelity. Unfortunately, some of the websites which are the easiest to find also tend to be the least useful. With this in mind, I have tried to compile a handful of sites all designed to help people cope with the discovery of infidelity. God Had A Different Plan!

By Dallas Wilkinson God had a different plan. The worlds plan was for Pam to have an abortion. The plan thought best by the caring staff at CPC was adoption. But God had a different plan. A victim of early childhood abuse in her biological familyadopted by Christian parents as a resultadoption seemed a perfectly reasonable and loving plan for Pams own unplanned pregnancy. Thats what Pams adoptive mother thought was best. But God had a different plan The lingering trauma of childhood abuse was not the only dilemma facing Pam. This trauma resulted in Pam being emotionally immature for her years. Her housing arrangements did not allow children. She would be homeless if she brought this baby into the world and did not choose adoption. The relationship which produced this baby was irreparably broken with no hope of support for the baby or mother likely. Also, Pam was bi-polar. The rapid cycling between elation and depression was controlled with psychiatric medicine but these drugs could not be taken during pregnancy. Pam would have to face the normal fears of an expectant mother without these medications. And Pams system would need time to cleanse itself of these medicines. Pam was carrying her unborn child during this cleansing period and the doctors warned of possible birth defects as a result. Donna was assigned as Pams mommy mentor. Donnas only qualifications for this assignment were that she too had been adopted as a child, that she too was a mother, and that she was a Christian. At their initial meeting, Pams desire to keep this baby and to raise it herself was stated without hesitation. That unquenchable desire to be a mommy was all that equipped her for the road ahead. Donna was overwhelmed by the enormity of the situation. She prayed that God would make a way where there was no way and help her and Pam through what promised to be a very trying time. Weeks passed. Donna and Pam spent long hours viewing instructional videos, talking about the day-to-day trials as well as the unspeakable joys of motherhood, spending time in prayerand becoming close friends. Donna was introduced to Pams immediate family, participated in Pams baby shower, and was with Pam on the day of her delivery. Their only plan was to trust in the Lord with the simple faith of a child. Today, Pam and Malachi are doing wonderfully well. Pam attends church regularly and is thrilled with motherhood. Malachi is calm, peaceful, healthy and happy. There will be trials. There will be hardship. There will also be the undying mothers love for her child. Andthatwas Gods plan. How often do we allow inconvenience, embarrassment, economics, pride, or even political gain to thwart Gods plan? How often does that God-given desire in a woman to give life to that which is in her body, fall by the wayside, a victim to human judgment and frailty? How many wandering souls must appear at Heavens Gate to be loved, accepted and wanted only by Him; the One who knew them first in their mothers womb? Secured Loan

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jame_Smith]Jame Smith Your loan, if supported by strong assets, is called a secured loan. A secured loan can be called a minimal risk loan. This means negligible risk for the moneylender. The degree of risk taken up by the lender is considerably lower, as in the event of non-payment the assets can be attached. In legal parlance, a secured loan is a loan wherein the borrower pledges collateral that he/she will forfeit in the event that he/she cannot pay back the loan. In a secured loan the property of the borrower acts as a security, which in effect balances the risk associated with the lending process. As is the case of all loans, the borrowed amount varies from one lender to another. It is also dependant on the credit history of the borrower. The amount usually depends on three factors namely the valuation of the real estate, the financial background, and the personal state of affairs. A secured loan is very risky business indeed, as you stand to lose a great deal in case you default on the loan. There are people for whom secured loans are tailor made to satisfy the money requirements and still there are other people for whom secured loans are not such a good idea. Secured loans are long-term loans and the time period can stretch up to 25 years. A great benefit of secured loans is that there are no restrictions as to its use. You can use it for any purpose, as the lender sees no harm in allowing you to spend as you please. After all, he knows that you house is very precious to you and you will know better than to default on your loans. A secured loan is best for those who require large sums of money and the borrower needs a large amount of time to repay the loan. Your search for a secured loan to suit your requirement wont be very easy. This is because the lender takes every precaution to see to it that the loan is repaid. The lender tests your claim for a loan on different parameters. It is only if all the factors are favorable, that your loan is approved. But this does not mean that there are very few providers in the market who offer secured loans. You will be spoilt for choice in this regard, and to draw a comparison between all of them is an impossible task. In such cases you must evaluate the quotes gives by various lenders and hone in on the one that best satisfies your needs. It is not very easy to be sure of the secured loan that can best serve your requirements. Some people hire the services of broker in this regard. A broker can help you get in touch with the best lender in terms of rates offered. But in the end it is best to be guided by your own judgment. So make an informed decision, choose a secured loan, and see your dreams take shape. Easter and the Rabbit on the Moon

By Christopher Jon Luke Dowgin Happy Easter! Long time ago around Lithuanian there was a goddess named Eostre that was brought to the Norse along with Perkunas by the people of the Historic Odin; being Eostare and Thor. Eostare was a fertility Goddess of Spring and the word east is named after her because of the rise of the sun. Now tonight, look up at the moon and you will see her little friend with an Easter basket. The Moon is tilted just right and is almost full. You will see a profile of a Rabbit with its ears back and a basket in his hand (The right eye of the Moon being the ears and the nose the body). The egg is the soul and the chick is the resurrection. The Snake is in there too, as the moon fades away it could be thought that a snake with his mouth open is swallowing the moon. Only too begin to birth it out again as an egg in three days time. From Crescent moon to full it will labor for the month just to come back around on it from the other side to swallow it once more. In ancient Mesopotamia, they practiced regicide. On a astrological cycle they would kill the king and his court and partake of the kings blood and body. Christ reenacted the metaphor at the last supper by breaking the bread and passing the wine. Also in ancient cultures, Men had three births by ritual. Woman had them as well but by nature through life, menstruation, and motherhood. But Men needed the mind. Boys were born of their mothers. Adolescents were initiated into Manhood in caves and pits by Men. Then to reach enlightenment, Men were initiated by three women and a tomb. The womb and the Tomb through willing sacrifice to the universe. To have such powers had to have a commitment to use it for the benefit of all society. So you had to become selfless and an individual at the same time. All for one, one for all. Odin hung from the world tree for nine days giving himself unto himself. He knew when he hung that he was god, as was Christ on the cross, or as you and me when we realize it. “Lift that stone you will find me.” Said Christ in the Gospel of Thomas. Buddha sat under the Boddhi (illumination) tree to gain enlightenment. All three sat at the tree of knowledge. Now Christ hung to be followed by three hours of darkness by the moon eclipsing the sun (Which in reality the jews did a yearly calendar fix of three hours, like fall back and spring forward of our day light saving time, which would of made it evening quick). Also he was in the tomb for three days. Lazarerous sat in the tomb for the same duration, but for his Manhood initiation. The Moon, the symbol of resurrection and cycles, is vacant for three days in the night sky to be born again by the snake. Christ rose on the new moon, the Crescent, as a gardener. Men might not give birth to children, but give birth to trillions of little lives that think for themselves and swim to lesser or greater degrees. They might be no more intelligent than bacteria, which is also alive. But being the opposite of an egg that is inert and just rolls down hill. So also maybe ten trillion little swimmers might give men some equality to woman in the matter of birth over time? So we see Christ as the sower in the Garden when he finds the Magdalean (The Watchtower one climbs to protect the sheep). This Easter we have allot to think about with the Da Vinci Code coming out next month and the release of the tossed back and forth between thief and collector of the Gospel of Judas. A Gospel that the Muslims might of known about, for their always was an old tradition of a sacred order from Christ to fulfill his ritual of Crucifixtion, or regicide. From Donkey at Jerusalem to the thirty pieces of silver, reflecting the three women at the tomb , three hours of darkness, three nights of darkness in the tomb. Jesus had said “The man I give this sop of bread to will betray me.” He hands it then to Judas and says be quick. Now a man who was the treasurer of the disciples who held their money already, what would he need with another thirty pieces? The new gospel will ask these questions again. Some speculation, did Judas hang himself by the neck or foot like Odin. Could he have gone through the same ceremony as Odin or Christ? One day we might find out. Cheers and happy Easter, Chris ps Don’t forget to say hi to the Rabbit in the Moon. Mid-Life Crisis: It’s Not Just for Men Anymore!

By Laura Young A recent story in Career Journal begins: “The “midlife crisis” has long been thought of as something that afflicts men and often involves expensive toys and second wives. But the Wall Street Journal’s Work & Family columnist, Sue Shellenbarger, says that as gender roles change, women are increasingly experiencing their own version of these upheavals.” I’ve certainly seen evidence of this in my own work as a personal development and business coach. My practice is comprised primarily of women and although it tends to be my male clients who volunteer the term “mid-life crisis”. When describing their current state, however, the women are certainly running a parallel course. What constitutes a crisis? For many, it appears to be a realization that life is finite. The older we get, the more we are apt to say, “Wow, this summer FLEW by!” “Where did the month go?!” And then friends start to lose parents. I personally know of 35 deaths this year! Two of my clients have lost parents just this week. At some point the awareness dawns on you. It’s not the month or the season that is flying by. It’s your LIFE! What do you do with that realization? The Chinese symbol for “crisis” combining “danger” and “opportunity” could not be more appropriate. The fact that many people at mid-life have accumulated the skills, financial cushion and talent to make true consideration of career and life style changes possible is exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. The trickiest part for both the men and the women that I have spoken with appears to be in making the distinction between a “risk” and a “gamble”. How can you tell the difference? Simply stated, a risk is calculated. You know you could lose, but you are able to take an educated guess as to what is at stake and how the loss could impact you. Having a “worst case scenario” in mind helps you to know what kind of safety net needs to be in place in order to make a mid-life transition possible. Analysis of the situation with a confidante or coach also helps an individual differentiate between psychological “heebie jeebies” and rational fears that need to be taken into consideration. Very difficult questions are faced directly and no actions are taken until careful consideration of the answers. What if I do lose my job? Could we still survive? What if my new business fails? How bad would it be if we did have to sell our home? Will my family allow for a change of lifestyle in order for me to try to make my dream come true? A gamble, on the other hand is impulsive and often based on emotional needs rather than logical analysis of a situation leaving one vulnerable to losing more than one can afford. Unfortunately we have some cultural beliefs that can seduce people into taking leaps that they can ill afford. “Build it and they will come” is a common mantra in this set. Can you always know what is a gamble and what is a risk? This is a hard one for people who are facing significant burn out and who have begun to feel desperate in their circumstances. Many times I have listened to people fantasize about the choice words they will use when they quit their job. (I was one, myself!). Some people are so afraid that they won’t get family support to make a big change that they try to do it with no one noticing. As a result, they avoid difficult conversations about needed changes in family spending habits to build a cushion or anticipated changes in roles to allow for a return to school. The key is to recognize burn out and desperation before it becomes intolerable and to pay attention to that little voice that keeps whispering in your ear that maybe there is a different road you should be on. If it’s too late, and you don’t feel like you can stand your situation any longer, it’s critical to take your self care seriously and implement some stress management strategies to help you get your focus back so you can lay a solid foundation for what could be one of the most interesting and exciting chapters of your life.
